on this brand new model juscame out and today we will see how mucfaster is it and for a lower price noeight thousand dollars seems like crazy price for this when you compare ito the Mac Studio and I made a video othat but my Intel base Mac Pro thathing had 192 gigs of RAM it had a Veg2 graphics card that cost twenty eighhundred dollars by itself I also spentwo grand for the afterburner card upgraded to 12 cores and here's how icompares to this one so the price tag ialmost half now yes I do have less Rain this new model because with a unifiememory it's way more efficient the onlthing I upgraded is to the full unbenM2 Ultra chip so let's go ahead and gestarted testing the new geekbench 6 afar as single core score the Applsilicon one is more than twice as fasand in multi-core score you guys seonce again more than twice thperformance now I'm not just going to bwriting benchmarks here I have a ton oreal world tests so as far as webrowsing performance once again we havabout two and a half times thperformance and let me tell you the neApple silicon model is super Snappcompared to the Intel one which islower than an M1 MacBook Air nocompressing xcode used to take 2minutes on my Intel one and now it takesix minutes yes way faster anuncompressing went from five and a halminutes down to one and a half minuteso so fast and denoising audio filewhich we do every day went from 4seconds to 12. yes we have basicallhalf the price and the performancdifference is almost 4X so the nesystem is incredible and running figma web-based web design application usinthis project which was provided by 50designs one of the best design studioin California the Apple silicon machinruns super smoothly everything loadreally quickly and then exporting 1high-resolution web pages takes a minutand 38 seconds on the new Mac Prcompared to four and a half minutes othe old Mac Pro yes that is a massivdifference now as far as graphicperformance the M2 Ultra Graphics it'built into the same chip which is builin with the memory all in one compareto that massive Vega 2 that had 32 gigof memory just by itself in terms ometal performance and geekbench we hav12000 for the latest version which whicwent up compared to 22000 so that is a big difference this iRTX high-end levels of graphicperformance but the crazy thing is if wlook at pure metal gaming performanceat a compute in gfx bench we go from 20frames per second t629. that is over three times thperformance but what blows my mind evemore is that the Intel Mac Pro Used 25watts to do this compared to 70. so whave three times at performance anthree and a half times less power usagmeaning we go from 0.8 frames per seconper watt to 9 over 11 times thefficiency which is crazy and with thathe fans are idle and the system irunning crazy cool now pushing the CPUto their limits in cinebench my old MaPro scored 118103 which used to be great even yearafter it came out but the M2 ultra basone scores 2898 over double the CPU performance anwith that it only uses 65 watts of powecompared to 185 Watts which actuallpeaked at 218 but I'm not gonna counI'll count the consistent power usagand that means that we get 76 points pewatt compared t444 so Apple silicon is incrediblefficient now let's talk about heat anfan noise the system is exactly the sama massive 40 or so pound system that icrazy good quality the box is over 3pounds I mean it's insane and we stilhave those three massive fans in thfront we have another one on the sidand these fans do practically nothinwith the new one even pushing either CPor Graphics even both to their limitthe fans run at idle now previously thfans would spin up and send a bench anour temperatures would be around 8degrees celsius compared to now we're a76 with the fans completely at thslowest speed possible it is insane nowith that I have to mention that you caget the same M2 Ultra in a Mac Studiand I did the full CPU comparisopreviously if you guys want to watch hothat compares with some graphics as weland temperatures that's a separate videthe link at the end now if you'rsomebody that codes running our xcodBenchmark that was designed for us whicis quite tough the old one was actuallquite fast 125 seconds but the new MaStudio took 67 seconds almost twice afast to do so now the insane thing is iyou got the very best 28 core processoyou're maxing at the Mac Pro you'rspending 30 grand or more with ram up tI think over 50 Grand that was actuall90 seconds with the best processobefore and now the cheapest one even th7000 base model takes 67. it is prettsweet now for music production this iwhere the Intel Mac Pro was still bettethan every other Apple silicon chiincluding the M2 Max the M1 Ultra it waso stable but this new M2 Ultra actualldid 320 tracks instead o215. you guys can look up the New LogiBenchmark yourself to see all thdetails that go into it but the weirthing was actually that the CPU wasn'even maxed out so I think for this tesif I did upgrade the RAM to 128 it woulgo even higher this is just Overkilunless you're doing insane things nothis is where I want to mention the nePCI slots that are in this Mac Mac Prit's PC Express four it has double thbandwidth that means that you can put isuper fast ssds you can also put iaudio cards which is why a lot of peoplwould get a Mac Pro instead of a MaStudio and the old one had a bunch oslots the new one has that as well buit is pretty much empty out of the bonow unfortunately one thing that a loof people don't know and what I founout recently is that the PCI Express bandwidth is actually split betweethose different slots so Apple kind ocheaped out and even though we havdouble the bandwidth overall if you'rputting in a bunch of cards you have twatch out because it gets cut and iwill split in between and so even if oncard doesn't need that many well otheones will suffer and that is a downsidwith the system with that where we useto have Ram like in my previous one thawas upgradable it is no longeupgradable but they moved ssds therwhere you no longer have air flow aneven though it says these are upgradablyou have to buy apples which is crazcrazy expensive so there are a lot okind of little limitations with this nesystem that otherwise previously we kinof had less now in terms of photediting the previous Mac Pro was a beasbecause it had six Channel memory thahelped it a lot now we're not runninstandard channels we have unified and ithe test the macro used to destroy in whave 542 megapixel raw edited imagethat took 10 minutes and 55 seconds witthe updated version of Lightroom welnow it takes three minutes and 1secondabsolutely insane performance for photeditors with that I also tested ouAffinity 2 which is very well optimizeand built from the ground up for unifiememory and here in terms of our CPscore we have over two and a half timethe performance in terms of Graphicmetal score once again over two and half times the performance which icrazy because it's pretty much half thprice but what is insane is if you'rdoing things that use both CPU basetests and GPU based tests that is whersystems started to struggle and here whave almost seven times the performancbecause this system doesn't slow dowthat much when it has to switch betweeboth it is incredible now in terms oblender 3D rendering the BMW test waflying taking just 11 seconds compareto 42. close to four times thperformance and then the much tougheparty tug test here it took 30 secondcompared to a minute and 52. once agaiclose to four times the performance anthe crazy thing is blender is not yefully optimized for Apple silicothey're slowly making improvements anthat is is the best that you can gewith the Intel version now with that thmemory bandwidth is over two and a haltimes compared to what the Intel versiocan do so the actual memory speeds anstuff are much faster on the Applsilicon version let's go into videediting which is the reason why I spenso much money on the Intel model it waso much faster than anything else thawas available but now if we look astabilizing a one minute 4K clip which do all the time it literally takes fouseconds compared to 14 and the crazthing is two of those seconds is just tstart it and finish it it is insane anexporting a standard five minute 4project which a lot of people do we wenfrom two and a half minutes down to 4seconds that is insane now for those oyou guys that use DaVinci Resolve welpreviously it was actually slightllower with the Intel based Mac Pro noit is slightly faster we have 37 secondthis thing literally exports at over 20frames per second and what's crazy ithat it is only using 65 of the graphicthat means that the bottleneck aractually the insanely fast encoders nothe graphics performance so if you don'want to spend the extra thousand buckfor the admin version you won't see difference and that also means that iyou're working on say a 20 minutproject it will take roughly two minuteto export it this is no longer somethinthat will ever slow you down jusstanding up getting some water bam yoare done as I mentioned I bought thafterburner card for the Intel Mac Prbecause it helped a ton with prores thathing was two thousand dollars aninstead of taking 2 minutes and 4seconds to export a five minute projecit took a minute and 15. so almost twicas fast and then when you're editing iwill take that load off the CPU peoplloved this two thousand dollar card buthe M2 Ultra has that built in aninstead of taking a minute and 15 iliterally takes 32 seconds you just seit flying through the export as you arwatching and that is included for frenow my Intel Mac Pro stuttered with 1bit 422 footage it couldn't handle it nmatter what where the new one of coursit plays back perfectly smooth it bareleven notices it and trying to export five minute project previously woultake 8 minutes and 21 seconds now we'rdown to two minutes and five secondbasically four times the performance anpreviously I had to transcode thifootage so 30 minutes of footage tprores would take 30 minutes when thawasn't that bad compared to the otheMax but now it takes eight minutes to dso but you don't have to do that becauswell it plays back perfectly finanother thing that Intel Mac Pro wakiller at was denoising footage iDaVinci Resolve it was still better thaother systems including the M1 Ultra bunow instead of getting 18 frames pesecond we get a perfect 24 frames pesecond playback which means that you cado it in real time with really tougdenoising but the crazy thing is it onlused about 80 percent of the GPU iwasn't even maxed out like it is foevery other system and that means thayou can even do so at 30 frames pesecond with perfect playback which blemy mind I didn't expect it to run swell and that's thanks to the bettememory and the controllers in the MUltra compared to the M1 Ultra with thaAK red Raw plays back perfectly at fulresolution on the M2 Ultra Mac Pro whicpreviously it could not do it woulstutter you'd have to lower resolutiothings like that but it is amazing thait does so and exporting this well welit's almost twice as fast showing ofthat graphics performance in this nesystem that actually scales better thawhat we see in simple benchmarks and afar as AKA Cannon raw graded that alswould not play back perfectly but now idoes without any issues so this new MUltra Mac Pro well it is absolutelcrazy not only is the price tag abouhalf compared to mine you get way betteperformance than even the 28 corversion with the high-end graphics carnow yes they do have a better graphiccard that you would be able to upgradto later but the price tags were insanthe performance was better but notouching this system here for a lot lesand realistically if I would have gothe base seven thousand dollar one welthe performance will still be very closto what we are seeing here so the othething that blows my mind is that the MaStudio still has has this performance ivery low temperatures
