Although Sony describes the Alpha a7 III as their entry-level, full-frame model, it’s really anything but basic. It features a full suite of pro photo and video features built into the camera. The sensor is a brand new, 24MP backside illuminated sensor. It has the perfect balance for creating a detailed, high resolution image while also allowing for higher ISO shooting if you’re shooting in low-light situations. The autofocus system uses both contrast and phase-detection autofocus for great accuracy and speed. Whether you’re using single-point autofocus for portraits or continuous autofocus for tracking moving subjects, the a7 III performs much better than more basic, entry-level cameras. Video shooting is also impressive. In HD it can shoot up to 120fps for super cinematic slow motion. Plus, it has in-camera image stabilization, which can be helpful for handheld, sweeping movements. It also has UHD 4K with HLG and S-Log Gamma. Ergonomic improvements include an autofocus joystick, dual SD card slots, USB-C, touchscreen, and weather sealing for shooting in harsh environments.
